There are several reasons why a person would want to detoxify the body, including elevating skin problems, reducing aches and pains, and improving digestive problems. Detoxification is also a great way to start a weight loss program. While many people may find that starting a detoxification process is difficult in the beginning, the majority are very pleased with the results and are happy that they did it, once it is over.

Many cultures around the world have used detoxification practices for centuries, including ancient Chinese, modern Chinese, and ayurvedic medicine systems. Even these ancient civilizations knew how helpful it was to detoxify their bodies in order to enhance its natural healing system, remove and eliminate toxins, protect against disease, and feed the body with nourishing and healthy nutrients.

How Does Detoxification Work?

Simply put, detoxification is the process removing impurities from the blood in the liver, which is the organ that processes toxins and cleanses the blood. Toxins are also absorbed into the body through the intestines, kidneys, lymph, lungs and skin. But there is no filter or any other method to process and eliminate the toxins through these other areas of the body so limiting the toxins a person ingests during a detoxification is very beneficial. When a person does a detoxification program, they are cleansing the blood in their entire body, not just in the liver.

Detoxify The Body With These 10 Actions

1. Eliminate the consumption of toxic substances like alcohol, cigarettes, refined sugars, saturated fats, and coffee from your diet. You should also minimize the use of chemical household cleaners and personal health care products with chemicals. Instead use natural products.

2. Follow a specific detoxification schedule. This could be a regimen of only drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juice for a period of three to seven days or using a cleansing supplement package.

3. After a detoxification program, continue the process by drinking at least two litres of water a day.

4. Eat a lot of fibre. Organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables, and brown rice, are all great foods to eat in order to consume enough fibre. Additional foods that are great for detoxifying are radishes, beets, broccoli, artichokes, spirulina, chlorella, cabbage, and seaweed.

5. Drink green tea and herbs like dandelion root, milk thistle, and burdock to cleanse and protect the liver.

6. Emphasize positive emotions to reduce or eliminate stress.

7. Take vitamin C supplements to increase the production of glutathione, which is a liver compound that drives away toxins.

8. Practice deep breathing techniques and exercises so oxygen can completely circulate through your body.

9. Visit a sauna and sweat out bodily waste through perspiration.

10. Exercise daily for an hour. This is the most important action. You can do anything from jumping rope, yoga, walking around the neighbourhood or taking a martial-arts class.
